The Revista Brasileira de Estudos de População (English: Brazilian Journal of Population Studies) is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing original research and review studies in areas of demography, demographic analysis, and the demographics of Brazil and other countries.[1]
The journal was established in 1984 and is published biannually by the Brazilian Association of Population Studies (Associação Brasileira de Estudos Populacionais), with support from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico). Articles are published in Portuguese, Spanish, or English. Occasional supplements to the journal include only English-language articles, either in their original version or translated from Portuguese.[2]
Since 2005 the journal has been made freely available online through SciELO.
The Brazilian Journal of Population Studies publishes articles on topics related to mortality, morbidity, fertility, migration, information systems, methodological developments in demography, the demographics of specific populations and groups such as indigenous peoples, and related issues. Articles may focus on Brazil or have an international perspective.[3]
